Dr. Golden is a radiation oncologist who specializes in treating genitourinary malignancies, including prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancers. As a physician and translational researcher, he has helped to shape the new and evolving field of radiation and immunity by showing how radiotherapy contributes to a form of tumor cell death (immunogenic cell death) that can be utilized as a personalized anti-tumor vaccine. In addition, he is the lead author on one of the first clinical trials showing how local radiotherapy to a tumor in combination with immunotherapy can generate immune-mediated abscopal (from Latin ab-scopus, away from the target) responses in distant, non-irradiated, sites of disease.
